Cheetahs hunt in a way that not many animals use. They will stalk their prey to a distance of 20-30 yards, then will sprint full speed- 70 miles an hour- after their prey. However, only about 3 out of 10 cheetah hunts bring food. This can be a problem, especially when cheetahs have cubs. Then it is up to the mother alone to provide food every day for the cubs to eat. If not, the cubs can starve. Cheetahs are not like lions or wolves. They don't hunt in "packs". Actually, only males will stay together, usually brothers and they will hunt together. The group is usually only 3 cheetahs, so a mother caring for 3 cubs, hiding from predators, and with only 3 hunts successful for every 10 tried, you can see it is a problem.
